HRT aiming at creating exciting young drivers have paved the way for Ma Qing Hua to become a part of Driver Development Programme. The Chinese driver joins the crew at the next race meeting in his home country. Assessed under various criterias, he will undergo private testings and simulator runs in the upcoming months to showcase his talent.
If he satisfies the team, he will be recruited for the young drivers test programme – driving the HRT F112 racing car. He pairs up with the Spaniard, Dani Clos in the development programme. Last year’s test programme at Abu Dhabi was filled up with immense talents and the field was closely packed.
Ma, a former Chinese National Karting champion started racing Karts at the age of 8. He followed it up until 2004 and became Formula Renault Asia series champion in his first year of outing. He drove a single race for China in the inagural A1 GP.
Under British F3 series he raced in many international events during 2009 season and again represented China a year later in the Superleague Formula. He went on to became series champion in Chinese Touring Car Championship with four wins and four podiums in 2011.
Ecstatic Ma feels privileged to be a part of HRT and believes his dream of becoming the first ever Chinese F1 driver heading in the right path.
“I’m very honoured to form a part of the driver development programme at HRT Formula 1 Team since, with work and effort, it will allow me to become the first Chinese Formula 1 driver. It’s a very special moment for me and it’s hard to express how happy I am.”
